12.1.1.3 Connecting to a Good Pair
A good pair may be difficult to find especially if it is suspected that an entire cable bundle has been damaged
by water. In most cases, a good pair should have an isolation resistance of greater than 3.3 Mohms. Of
course, an isolation resistance measurement of greater than 20 Mohms would be the best. The
CableSHARK’s RX (AUX) connector must be used with the YELLOW, BLUE and GREEN leads. Attach
these leads to the good pair – YELLOW to TIP, BLUE to RING, and GREEN to GROUND.
TIP 1 - YELLOW
GND - GREEN

In cases where a good pair cannot be found, the user may have to install a separate pair to perform the test.
In fact, the good pair can be of a different gauge and of a different length.
12.1.1.4 Connecting the CableSHARK to the Faulty Pair and a Good Pair
Once a faulty pair is identified, the user does not have to change around the telco clips connected to the
faulty or good pair. However, the strap may have to be adjusted to accommodate the test. The CableSHARK
will indicate to the user how to re-configure the strap.
